In 1981, the Empress Steamships of the Canadian Pacific Railway Company launched a standard of service never seen before on the high seas. Exactly 100 years later, Canadian Pacific returned to the shores of British Columbia with their latest vessel-The Waterfront, located at Waterfront Center.

Waterfront Centre forms the cornerstone of the Coal Harbor Development, a bustling community that links Vancouver's downtown core with its waterfront. Terraced gardens fountains, and retail shops connect the 23-story hotel and its sister office tower on the Concourse Level.

An enclosed pedestrian walkway directly inks the towers to Vancouver's Cruise Ship Terminal and Trade & Convention Certre.

The Waterfront's design teamm knew better than to compete with Mother Nature. From the outside, the Hotel mirrors its immediate surroundings of Pacific Ocean, sky, and greenery in blue reflective glass. Inside, the lobby distills the essence of the shore with materials like fossilized shells in limestone and sandstone-colored marble against a panoramic view of the harbor. Views of Stanley Park across the water tie diners to the land at Herons, the hotel's signature restaurant.

The bill of fare at Herons provides a sense of place as well. Flavors gathered from the hotel's third-floor, 2,100-square-foot herb garden join fresh local fruits andvegetables, local game and seafood, and Pacific Northwest wines. In the lounge, guests linger over cocktails by the fire and enjoy live piano entertainment.

Special guest services include a traditional page who personally relays phone, fax, and other messages. Complimentary coffee and tea in every room, 24-hour in-room dining, guest climate control, and two-line phones with data ports provide additional conveniences.

Guests traveling on business appreciate the Business Center, impeccably staffed and equipped with the latest technology at private work stations. For gatherings of up to 600, 24,000 square feet of meeting space offers complete audiovisual services, creative cuisine, and elegant settings with beautiful views of the waterfront.

In addition, a complimentary health club invites everyone to enjoy its exercise equipment, steam rooms, massage facilities, and refreshing outdoor pool adjacent to the herb garden.

Spectacular harbor and garden views fill picture windows in every guest room, luring guests outdoors to meet the neighbors:1,000-acre Stanley Park, historic Gastown, and cosmopolitan Robson Street-all only minutes away. At the same time, the luxuriously renovated rooms tempt guests to linger indoors and enjoy not only their magnificent overview of the city (well over half scan the harbor), but the many luxurious residential touches.

Entree Gold accommodation welcomes the most discerning guests with the ultimate expressions of hospitality, such as private registration, exceptional room amenities, complimentary access to a private boardroom, and breakfast, cocktails, and canapes served in and exclusive lounge.

Canaddian and Pacific Rim art ties every room and corridor to views of the land and sea or Vancouver's diversity of cultures. In the Waterfront's lobby, for instance, a large-scale contemporary work, Voyage of Discovery, charts British Captain George Vancouver's third and final visit to the Pacific Northwest in 1790. It and other artworks and artifacts establish a sense of old and new throughtout the hotel-a fitting tribute to the timeless spirit and matchless beauty of Vancouver's waterfront.
