Every skier dreams about Whistler in sonwtime. The most recent survey of Mountain sprots & Living magazine rates it the No.1 ski destination in North America for the eighth year in a row. An easy two-hour drive north of Vancouver, the Canadian resort nestles at the foot of the continent's two largest ski mountains: Blackcomb and Whistler. Almost 1.5 million skiers flock to the side-by-side peaks in winter, then thrill to a mile of vertical drop on nearly 7,000 skiable acres.

Yet, despite the notoriety, Whistler is still one of the continent's best-kept secrets when it comes to warm-weather activities-which actually outnumber those of winter. For starters, Whistler now boasts four world-class golf courses, including the Chateau Whistler's own Robert Trent Jones, Jr., course as will as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Robert Cupp courses. They all blanket the earth in vibrant green while taking in breathtaking panoramas of soaring peaks, bubbling streams, and quiet ponds.

In summer, most of the Chateau Whistler's guests stay outdoors from sunrise to sunset, whether playing golf or tennis sightseeing, mountain biking, alpine hiking, Rollerblading, swimming in five freshwater lakes, windsurfing, or even skiing on the glacier. Just a short walk form the hotel, Whistler Village presents a full calendar of outdoor summer festivals along with galleries and specialty shops, restaurants, bistros, bars, and nightclubs.

At home, the 12-story hotel entertains with three tennis courts, an indoor-outdoor heated pool, and a full-service Health Club &Spa with extensive facilities. Business and social gatherings take place in six function rooms and two grand ballrooms-the largest and most complete facilities for events in the area. A professional Conference Service Department sees to every need, coordinating everything from food and beverage to office and audiovisual requirements.

Guests retire to 558 rooms and suites. Appointed in the latest amenities and furnished with country elegance, all focus on pastoral views of the surrounding mountains and valley. Standard luxuries include down-filled duvets and handmade quilts in the suites; minibars and in-room coffee and tea; alarm-clock radios and color TV's with video checkout, on-command movies, and video games; and full bathrooms with deluxe toiletries, hair dryers, and fluffy bathrobes.

In 1998, The Leading Hotels of the World welcomed the resort to its membership, and honor that coincided with the establishment of an elite floor of accommodations known as Entree Gold. Guests of this floor enjoy the utmost in luxury, from fireplaces and Jacuzzi tubs in their rooms to private check-in and checkout, full nightly turndown, overnight shoeshine, and complimentary Continental breakfast, honor bar beverages, and hors d'oeuvres served in the comfort of and exclusive concierge lounge.

Fine dinning contributes and important component to every stay. The hotel's signature restaurant, The Wildflower, features the best of West Coast ingredients-wild mushrooms to seafood-prepared and served in a romantic country-kitchen atmosphere. Portobello's offers a fresh market-deli alternative, while the Mallard Bar provides fabulous views and a low-key atmosphere for light meals and cocktails. From spring thorught fall, the Mallard Terrace stages outdoor barbecues, the perfect wrap-up for a day of warm-weather fun.

Few resorts on earth can rival the scope of activities available in any one season at the Chateau Whistler Resort. Winter of summer, guests find the breadth of experience rivaled only by the expansive Canadian welcome and awesome mountain scenery.
